OUR INNOVATIVE WAY TO EXPAND CONTACTS

We hear time and time again that you are going to land that coveted corporate board seat through your network. Because of that, we guide our VIP Members through a networking process and we have proof that it works! But we aren’t stopping there...we are always in search of new ways to help you get that seat at the table. In late 2014, we created our Matchmaking Program.  Most of our VIP Members already have great board contacts but sometimes they don’t even realize it. And despite these impressive connections, not all of these contacts and companies are the right fit for each VIP's board goals so we combine all of these connections for one pretty amazing list!  Here's a sneak peak at a few of the 194 companies we currently have on our list:

SMALL COMPANIES

- MIST Inc (medical information software)

- Sequoia Capital (venture capital firm)

- Ur-Energy Inc (uranium mining company)

MID-SIZE COMPANIES

- Hofstra University (educational institution)

- P.F. Chang's China Bistro (restaurant dining)

- Restoration Hardware (home furnishings company)

LARGE COMPANIES

- Gilead Sciences Inc (biotechnology company)

- JetBlue Airways (low cost airline)

- Wells Fargo (banking & financial services company)

What aspects of your VIP Membership have been the most beneficial for you? The corporate board opening notifications from Women in the Boardroom are extremely valuable. Once your board bio is in order and you’re board-ready, you need these ‘leads’. These notifications from WIB, including lists of companies with an interest in or that are actively seeking women board members, are very helpful.  I also consider Sheila a great speaker. Every time I hear her speak or have a conversation with her, I walk away with 10 things I want to do immediately to up my game.

WITH SHEILA RONNING

The women within our membership are both aspiring and experienced corporate board directors. All of them came to us for different reasons, but we likely agree on one crucial point: We must increase the pace of change in our boardrooms so more women have a seat at the table. Here is how we can work together:

If you are a CEO or executive, or influence someone who is, I urge you to take action.
-Assemble your boards in a strategic manner, adding directors that best represent your customers, employees & shareholders

If you serve as a director now, use your prime position of influence to increase diversity.
-Sponsor women candidates & bring their names forward whenever a board seat opens
-Commit your entire organization to adding diverse voices - not only gender but age, race and skill-set as well

If you are a senior-level executive woman, it is time to step up & serve.
-Develop your personal brand & learn how to work your network - don't assume people know your goals
-Mentor & promote women leaders who are doing great work

If sitting corporate board directors, female leaders and senior-level executives come together to make sure that more corporations and other institutions are influenced by women, we'll accelerate the pace of positive change in our boardrooms.
